Apology Letter For Bad Job Housesitting

Dear {Name},

I am so incredibly sorry for not living up to your confidence in me as a house sitter. You entrusted your property to me, but more importantly, your beloved pets.

I will never forgive myself for not double-checking that both the front and back door were secured. Had I done so, your house would likely not have been burgled and your cat, Jasmine, would still be safely inside your home rather than lost.

At the very least, I am returning the money you paid me to watch your house and care for Jasmine in your absence. I hope you will allow me to distribute the enclosed "Lost Cat" posters and provide the $50 reward if Jasmine is found.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to make up for my terrible oversight.
